Out and About
Hi, i’m Richard, a Multi-Skilled Engineer and Owner of British Fire And Security. That’s me in the photo below carrying out a CCTV install at one of my many loyal local customers. And as you can see in the menu at the top of the screen, CCTV is just one of the many different types of work that we are able to carry out.
Background
Skip back to 2004 and Richard started by throwing himself in to the deep end of the fire industry by becoming a wholetime Firefighter. After 5 years of intense training, learning and assisting in life-saving incidents, Richard decided to leave the fire service in order to explore the world a little, and experience a new culture.
In early 2010, Richard headed to Indonesia to work as a Teacher, teaching English as a foreign language. Initially, it was his intention only to stay for 1 year, but after enjoying his time so much there, this soon turned into 5 years, working in 3 different international schools. During this time, Richard met his other half and a short time later got married and started a family.
Richard returned to the UK in 2015 with new family in tow and qualified as a Fire Extinguisher Engineer. He then worked for 2 fire protection companies in the Manchester area. Richard wanted to learn other skills and expand his knowledge within the industry and in 2018 decided to join an alarm/security company in Blackburn. During this time he qualified in CCTV and Intruder Alarm Installation but was then made redundant when the company was sold.
Soon, an opportunity arose and Richard joined a company near Manchester specialising in Fire Alarm Installation. He qualified in fire alarm maintenance and fire alarm installation and gained significant experience in this area. Due to his added list of multi-skills, Richard felt there was a need for a fire and security company who could offer all of these services in one place, a kind of go-to for home and business owners.
And so, in 2019 British Fire And Security was born!
